What Is Crime?
Crime is defined as an act or a failure to act which breaches a statute and is capable of falling under the sanctions or other consequences of a statute. But crime is also a significant social and criminological construct as the behaviours regarded as criminal can shift over social and temporal distance. Criminology thus involves not only an examination of individual crimes but also the examination of elements of society, psychology, economics and the environment that may affect the nature of crime.
Violent, property, financial, cyber, organised crime and other crimes are all types of crime that can be committed. To gain a perspective on how to explain and learn about the causes of crime, who might be involved as victims, and the ways in which the community can work to prevent, investigate, punish, rehabilitate, and otherwise counter crime through societies' responses. The study of crime is therefore one of the most essential pillars of the study of criminology and criminal justice
